Glenn Beck – Current Events & Politics – Pledge of Nonviolence

  1. Odd, since the first verse says:

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

One may interpret it their way, the wrong way, but what it actually says the only authority or power is God and his duly authorized ministers.  Who is a duly authorized minister?  I believe Hebrews 5:4 says that with:

And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

OK, so how was Aaron called?  Well, Exodus 28:1 & 41 pretty says how that happens:

And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office…And thou shalt put them (holy robes) upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

I don’t see anything there about the government being the one with the power and authority.  It would seem to me that God’s duly designated representative receives direction from God who has authority and how that authority is given to them.It just shows that evil has no bounds. There is a difference between obeying the law and being subject to the laws of the land.  However, there’s nothing that says you must be subject to tyranny and illegal edicts.  Our law clearly dictates those in charge are subject to the higher law of the Constitution and if they are not, then they have no authority.

  2. Remember this, Satan’s greatest weapon is to mingle scripture with lies.  He will tell you just enough truth to give the lie credibility.

  3. Have you noticed the change in rhetoric from Glenn Beck starting in January? Last fall he was talking about going to the Lincoln memorial and taking the country back and if the Republicans didn’t want to join our movement to take the country back they could just get out of the way..Now he’s telling everyone not to get into politics, not to resist, and that the only weapon we need to fight this government takeover is god.  I heard him tell a woman on the radio “Just get on your knees and be humble and you’ll make it through this”.  So just who will we be prostrating ourselves too?  The federal government?  I’m going to have a problem with that one.

  4. I happen to agree with Glenn’s approach.  Frankly, the only way this is going to succeed is with God’s help, and with a people that behaves like they deserve the nation that our founding fathers gave us.  I do not find it unreasonable at all with Glenn’s chosen method.Glenn has explained his corrections in direction openly.  He also has never said our only weapon is God.  He says we will not succeed without God.  Glenn knows the only way to fight this is to bring out and expose the truth, but do it peacefully.  He brings up the very definite example of the founding fathers, and that is character.  It took our founding fathers almost fifteen years of peaceful means before they were finally left with only one option, rebellion.  Frankly, the question “what would Jesus do?” I think he’d start with this method.

  5. So you don’t think we have a political option? We should abandon the attempt to retake control of the states and use the states to limit the Federal government to the 18 enumerated powers listed in the constitution? Glenn has said to stay away from politic’s. I don’t see the logic there.

  6. No, you misunderstand it.  The political option, but done peacefully, is the right way to do this.  I hope you aren’t just reading bits and listening to sound bites of Glenn.  If you are, you’ve been misinformed. Think of it this way.  Glenn’s message of becoming a worthy people can only strengthen our political methods, and weaken theirs.  If our stance is integrity and truth, then they have nothing.Glenn hasn’t said to stay away from politics.  He’s just said to avoid getting sucked into the sleazy quagmire that is politics.  Don’t get suckered by a sleaze-bag that will say things you want to hear, that changes at the whims of the wind.  When you’re in the right frame of mind and character, you’ll be better able to spot the wolves among the sheep.Even now, Glenn’s message is to return to our Constitutional roots.   What do you think his concentration on “Faith, Hope and Charity” are for?  These are the same characteristics our founding fathers esteemed as extremely important for a Republic to survive.  We can’t be a nation of envious, free-loading, selfish, uncharitable people thinking they are entitled to everything much of the nation has slowly been slipping into.Where have you been?  Glenn’s explained his reasoning in quite detail.  Heck, even for those paintings of Faith, Hope and Charity, he chose carefully the appropriate founding father to represent the principle.Samuel Adams, represents Faith.  Why?  Samuel Adams was such a deeply religious and faithful man that in comparison he makes Jerry Falwell look like Larry Flint, relatively speaking.George Washington was chosen for Hope, because, frankly, the revolutionary war would have never been won without the hope and loyalty George Washington inspired in people.  Without him, we never would have had our Constitution in the first place.  He was the sign of hope.  He re-focused the bickering and selfish thinking of many of the delegates and reminded them why they were there.  He gave them hope.  The very presence of the man was daunting.  His soldiers thought him almost immortal because he never got shot and always lead his men on a white horse, and always fought for them and the cause and never let politics cloud his thinking.  The man could have become King if he wanted.  He didn’t want it, and was our only reluctant President.  He served out of duty not lust for power.  That man is, short of Jesus Christ, the epitome of hope. Then there’s charity.  Benjamin Franklin.  A firm believer in charity and personal responsibility to helping the poor and especially defending the rights of the poor.  He was always the voice for the little guy in the Constitutional convention.  He understood quite clearly what charity really is.No, you have to see the grand picture here.  America cannot be what it was until the people themselves are the kind of people it was meant to represent.  Thomas Jefferson once said, “
And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed
their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that
these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated
but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that
God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever.

“  In other words, we must not be worthy of God’s wrath, but rather worthy of his blessings in order to appreciate his gift of freedom and to expect him to preserve this nation. This is the realization Glenn has come to.  Don’t give up on the legitimate and political means of correction, but first make sure you and your family are the type of people worthy of the gift of freedom.  Regardless if you are religious or not.  Be good to each other, have integrity, be honest in your dealings with your fellow man, be charitable and generous of your own choice, be peaceful when dealing with the opposition.  Let evil destroy and expose itself for what it is.  This can only be achieved if there is a contrast between integrity and dishonesty.

Come on, you know you want to say something.
